I am struggling with "jet lag", I got a good nap this afternoon, but it was hard to wake up. I went walking through the compound again, trying to get familiar with where things are.
Overall I am doing well, everything is different here, the villa is nothing like our house back in Houston, it is not yet personalized, there is nothing on the walls. The beds are not as soft, the living room furniture is firm, everything in good condition, its just much different from what we are accustomed, a lot like things we had when we first got married.
The villa seems warmer than we keep the house, not uncomfortable just warmer. A few trips up and down the stairs and you really notice it is warmer. The A/C is a little noisy, it's like the room A/C units you find in motel rooms, it kicks on and off. There are 6 individual units, I think the outside condensers are on the roof above our bedroom, again a little noisy but I expect we will get used to it.
We get about 25 different channels, several discovery channels, a couple of movie channels, a few sports channels and then a few other channels. We will definitely be changing out viewing habits. One thing you don't consider at first is the viewing times for US TV is 9 hours different, for instance the View comes on at 4 pm here. I had a brainstorm idea that we would be able to stream Netflix to a computer and then feed it to the TV through a HDMI cable, checked the TV and it has HDMI inputs so I logged into Netflix and a big box pops up saying it is not posible to stream content to my current location. In a second I went from sky high to the bottom of the ocean.
When I went out walking after dark it was very nice outside. There were no stars last night in Jeddah but tonight, I can see a few, the moon is very bright and that may be the reason I can not see many stars.
Over the years we have worked hard to make our live more comfortable and we have done well, we live a very comfortable live. Here it is not going to be as comfortable, it is very livable but not the level of comfort we are accustomed to. When I stop and think about it, we are pretty fortunate, I hope I idon't forget that.
